Bloodline

Available on Netflix. It’s not a great show. Individual scenes can seem aimless or unfocused, and the casting could have been less formulaic. But there’s one guy on this show who makes the whole thing worth watching: Ben Mendelsohn.

His work as Danny Rayburn, the criminally inclined black sheep eldest brother of a prosperous Florida family, is as good as anything on cable (the talent pool for all-things Emmy these days). A master at making people uneasy without so much as raising his voice, Mendelsohn gets under the skin of his three siblings (Kyle Chandler, Norbert Leo Butz and the effortlessly beautiful Linda Cardellini) and rattles their cages to expert, sinister effect.
